We've Got Paint!

Here's the "before" to remind you what I was working with...the green around the edges is frog tape. It didn't seal as well as advertised. :(

Yesterday I scrubbed and taped and painted. I wasn't sure about that paint - it didn't look right in the can. Does it look right to you?

It's supposed to look like hot chocolate. It looks more like melted coffee ice cream.

I called Orchard Supply, and they assured me that it would dry to the correct color. So I painted. Two coats.

This is what it looked like last night.

Here's another view. Does it look like hot chocolate to you? Or coffee ice cream?

I waited until this morning, to see it in natural lighting. Hot chocolate? Or coffee ice cream?

How about this angle? Looks like coffee ice cream to me.

And here it is, with the paint chip vs. 2 coats on the wall. I'm convinced I was given the wrong color paint. It's got too much yellow and not enough pink...

Now what?

I actually LIKE the coffee ice cream color a lot. I think it's because I like coffee ice cream a lot. But the cabinets (still another 2 weeks from completion) are going to be stained light cherry. How will they look, when put next to each other? Should I paint again? With the proper color? Or just leave it?

My inclination is to leave it, at least for now. I've still got to paint the other 2 walls and the ceiling, they are going to be painted "sandbar," which is a creamy almost white.

Does anyone have any sure-fire methods for making a nice clean line between colors? The paint seeped under the frog tape, despite securing it as tightly as possible.

I'm going to finish up next week. There's lots on the agenda for the remainder of the week, primarily another college graduation. Stay tuned for pictures, I'll post them next week.

Today I've got lots of cleaning to get to. I've been ignoring the rest of the house as I've been concentrating on the sewing room. Think I can get these guys to help?

Maybe Charlie. He always wants to be in the middle of things...

If you've got any input on the color of the paint, please leave a comment or send me an email. Thanks!!

Well, it looks beautiful in the pictures. While it looks a little lighter than the paint chip, I don't see the yellow vs. pink in the photo. I would wait and see how you feel after some time goes by. I had the wrong counters installed in a bathroom renovation and was devastated. A little time went by and suddenly I loved them and preferred them over the original choice. Sometimes these mistakes turn out to be blessings. You never know. So I suggest giving it more time.

Very soft and inviting. No need to paint over it. You will be saving time for quilting!
Have a blessed day.

Thank you for the encouragement. I DO like the color, I just hope it works with the cabinetry. I won't know for another week or so...
