After a week away, the progress is very visible on the remodel. Wow! Look at that structure!
Seems like there should be a quilt in here somewhere, what with all the lines and angles...
By the afternoon, it was even further along.
And this morning, they took the roof off the main house. Yikes!! Pray that we don't have rain until AFTER the new roof is in place and secure! It seems like a gamble in December, but we really do live in a dry climate, despite fog. Rain is not anticipated for at least another week to 10 days. Let's hope the forecast is accurate this time!

It's amazing how fast they can get things done.
You do not know me, but about a year or two ago, I stumbled across your blog when I did a Google search for "Thimble Towne blog" (couldn't remember the name of Jeremy's blog). I too live in Visalia, within walking distance of Thimble Towne. I am a quilter as well, although definitely not of your caliber. ☺ (Baby quilts are my specialty, and I just finished my 13th this evening.)
Anyhow, I was randomly looking at my bookmarked "favorites" and once again stumbled across your blog. I was looking at your house pictures and noticed that your contractor resembles my brother-in-law from the back/side. I showed the pics to my husband. We eventually realized the contractor is not his brother, but my husband commented that your "walnut" house looks very familiar to him. In finding this post with the full front view of the house, we realized that, yes indeed, we know the previous owners. The wife actually went Home to be with the Lord a few weeks ago (she and her husband had been living in an assisted living facility for the past few years), but we remember having many Christian Bible studies in their living room. Just thought you might be interested to know that. I had just been wondering about the status of their old home and walnut orchard, and whether it had been sold yet. It's great to see all the work you are doing to the place.
By the way, the persimmons are fine even if they get brown/black spots. They are the baking variety anyway, so just peel them, pull out the seeds, puree them in the blender, and use them to make cookies, muffins, bread, etc.
