Lots of Computer Time

Not much of anything else.  Then again, on Saturday, I had a delightful diversion.  My friend Debbie decided to celebrate her retirement and 60th birthday in style.  She threw a party, and invited her friends.  But get this:  She threw a quilting party!!  She rented a room from 8:30-4:30, and invited all of the members of her friendship groups to come and help her celebrate.  Not only were there cake and other goodies, but she served us lunch, and handed out amazing door prizes.  It was fantastic!
The door prize I selected was this green project box.  Perfect!  It's exactly what I need!  See?  It already holds a new project, the baby quilt that I worked on during the party.  yay!
(There are actually two quilts in the box, one for a boy, one for a girl.)

I finished a couple of postcards, and have already put them in the mail.

What else?  Oh!  My iris are working very hard to bloom.  I feel so sorry for them!  My gardener has been pumping them full of some sort of "bloom encourager" which is working on some of them.  Look at this poor yellow baby.  It didn't even try to grow leaves.  How did it do this?
This little purple-rimmed beauty is one of my favorites.
The white iris are also blooming.  I got the angle right to avoid all the dry bark and concrete that surround it.
And I think that's it.  It will be a surprise to both of us, if I post anything more before April 15.  I have a quilt show to concentrate on.  I do hope that you come and see us!!

It's Coming! It's Coming!

The Quilt Show is coming!

That means that I have been crazy busy since Penny was returned, trying to get on top of my Quilt Show ToDo List.  Today, we had a pipe washing party at my house.
Please note that no water was wasted as each pipe was wiped down with a wet cloth, then dried with another clean cloth.
However, much coffee (and less pastry) were consumed during the event.  Love this bunch of happy workers!!
So much time has been spent with the computer, I haven't had time to post images of the few flowers that have bloomed in the yard.
These iris bloomed out back, away from the January iris massacre.
Charlie, working hard, to make the orchids look better.
Watson discovers a tree.  Can you believe this guy is full grown?  What a dink!
And speaking of cats, Hecate has passed on.  She came back to say goodbye a few weeks ago, and I haven't seen her since.  She did well, for a mostly blind scaredy cat, who spooked whenever anyone made a move in her direction.  I think we had her for at least a decade.
On a happier note, I pulled out some perle cotton on Monday evening, and did a teeny bit of stitching.  Ahhh.  My happy place!
I really should get back to work!  Thanks for the delightful diversion.  Hope to see you at the show!

SO busy

We went to guild, then out to lunch.  Of course one of us dressed appropriately.
Because when one is a princess, one's gown is appropriate at all times.
For her birthday, she wore her pink dress.  (If you've seen Disney's Sleeping Beauty, you're familiar with the blue/pink competition.)
And then, it was time to leave her with her Mama (and Dada) and head for home.
Now, to concentrate on the quilt show.  Any blogging will likely be snippets of this and that.  You can "like" Best of the Valley Quilt Show on Facebook, to see the latest thing on my mind.

Oh!  And there's also a newspaper article, that I keep forgetting about.  You might enjoy it.
Here is the link.  Gotta run.  Too much to do, not enough time.

The Week in Pictures

See my new shoes?  They're good for dancing.

 Mama's Tinkerbell costume from 1986.
Lemon Blueberry gluten-free birthday muffin.
 Raspberry sorbet birthday cake.
Feeding the giraffe - or not feeding the giraffe.  He was big and scary.
 It rained at the zoo.
Ready to see my subjects (in Mama's old dress, circa 1991?)
And I'm NOT waiting for the prince!  Watch out, Malificent!!
It's been a busy week.  Mama comes home tonight, and I go home tomorrow.
Gramma may need a nap.

SO Busy

Penny is here, and we are busy.
We're watching the irises bloom, among other things.
This morning we went out to breakfast.  We split an avocado, spinach and jack cheese omelet, a side of bacon, and fruit.  This is her portion.  She is a magician.  Beginning with the lettuce, she ate it ALL.
She's now busy in the living room, doing some ironing.  She's already made eggs and tea for me, and she's looking forward to pulling weeds tomorrow.  Life in the country has special treats, best appreciated by city kids!  :)
And to think that last week I did some stress shopping online, late at night.  It arrived today.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.
On second thought, if I wash it, I'll bet Penny would iron it for me!  :)

So Occupied

My granddaughter is staying with us for a couple of weeks, so there isn't much sewing going on.  But on Sunday, Grandpa read to her while I put beads on this post card,
and added the backing and sea horse to this card,
and added the backing and fishies to this one.
And that's all I've got.  I need to go play princesses with the princess.  :)
