For the past 13 years, and in 1,680 posts, I have tried to write content that is positive, encouraging, and perhaps even a bit inspirational.</p><p>Imagine my surprise when my Friday inbox included a notice from The Google that my post titled, "Birthday Cards," was deemed to contain unacceptable content. Birthday cards! Pictures of birthday cards! You've seen the cards I make. Have you ever found them to have any sort of unacceptable content?</p><p>The following day, they notified me that after further study, they decided to allow the post to be reinstated. However, it was not returned to my active blog. It had reverted to "draft" status. I reread it. It was short and sweet and harmless. I don't dare activate it again, since I'll likely be awarded a second black mark from almighty google for my errant ways.</p><p>And so, it seems the time has come for me to say goodbye.</p><p>I have enjoyed my blogging experience, but I enjoy freedom from censorship more.</p><div class="poetry" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Ubuntu, Cantarell, "Noto Sans", sans-serif, Arial; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; margin-top: 1em; min-width: 0px; padding-left: 2.6em; position: relative;"><p class="line" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.6rem; line-height: 2.4rem; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-width: 0px;"><span class="text Num-6-24" id="en-NASB1995-3848" style="position: relative;">The <span class="small-caps" style="font-variant-caps: small-caps; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal;">Lord</span> bless you, and keep you;</span></p></div><div class="poetry top-1" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Ubuntu, Cantarell, "Noto Sans", sans-serif, Arial; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; margin-top: 1em; min-width: 0px; padding-left: 2.6em; position: relative;"><p class="line" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 1.6rem; line-height: 2.4rem; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-width: 0px;"><span class="text Num-6-25" id="en-NASB1995-3849" style="position: relative;"><span class="versenum" style="display: inline; font-size: 1.2rem; font-weight: 700; left: -4.4em; line-height: normal; position: absolute; top: auto; vertical-align: text-top;"> </span>The <span class="small-caps" style="font-variant-caps: small-caps; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal;">Lord</span> make His face shine on you,</span><br /><span class="text Num-6-25" style="position: relative;">And be gracious to you;</span></p></div><div class="poetry top-1" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Ubuntu, Cantarell, "Noto Sans", sans-serif, Arial; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; margin-top: 1em; min-width: 0px; padding-left: 2.6em; position: relative;"><p class="line" style="box-sizing: border-box; line-height: 2.4rem; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-width: 0px;"><span class="text Num-6-26" id="en-NASB1995-3850" style="font-size: 1.6rem; position: relative;"><span class="versenum" style="display: inline; font-size: 1.2rem; font-weight: 700; left: -4.4em; line-height: normal; position: absolute; top: auto; vertical-align: text-top;">2</span>The <span class="small-caps" style="font-variant-caps: small-caps; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal;">Lord</span> lift up His countenance on you,</span><br /><span class="text Num-6-26" style="position: relative;"><span style="font-size: 1.6rem;">And give you peace.’ </span> Numbers 6:24-26</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjExun4vXN_yWJn4WsSEWYS4I6viTbA46SOt4_K-5J1CSr8H71Vo63tHiK1q5VnJLpxnJD_SqE64bc_zl_x04TljavWYffh9z9SFtzk9YNsjW7YVV9HKBJIe3wLZIhYoDWGBoF6OeFvpKro/s2048/IMG_5523.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjExun4vXN_yWJn4WsSEWYS4I6viTbA46SOt4_K-5J1CSr8H71Vo63tHiK1q5VnJLpxnJD_SqE64bc_zl_x04TljavWYffh9z9SFtzk9YNsjW7YVV9HKBJIe3wLZIhYoDWGBoF6OeFvpKro/s320/IMG_5523.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p class="line" style="box-sizing: border-box; line-height: 2.4rem; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-width: 0px;"><br /></p></div>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-54749198891292362322021-04-27T12:40:00.000-07:002021-04-27T12:40:09.080-07:00Easter Eggs<p> As I was trying to update the blog layout, I realized I neglected to show you the Easter Egg postcards taht I made for my grandchildren. It was called ColorPOP. She taught the class in two sessions, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My sister was here recently, and found this painting for me, at Visalia Antiques. She then encouraged me to put together a gallery wall.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp-fH3RckKuVc-VmtzW1e5khLauPmo9ug6gOn_SLO3fBiLMdE0wn7ktPyQRza0WfVN4tCRb0MJ-dg904GndFJK74rktxa9V-TWM8ePZI8Fg1_juaksJkFt8KxCIfsBF2g7PC67r24-Xp3y/s640/Watercolor+-+Peonies.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp-fH3RckKuVc-VmtzW1e5khLauPmo9ug6gOn_SLO3fBiLMdE0wn7ktPyQRza0WfVN4tCRb0MJ-dg904GndFJK74rktxa9V-TWM8ePZI8Fg1_juaksJkFt8KxCIfsBF2g7PC67r24-Xp3y/s320/Watercolor+-+Peonies.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I do have a LOT of paintings and framed art, so I agreed it was a great idea. But how? She sent a link to a youtube video that described making patterns of your artwork, placing them on the wall, and then using them to place nails and hang the paintings.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgTJCsM9sz-npA1hSv60X3YsqquWuz_z-RuqgLwa7mhkSnSLzs3jNrNRGRQBu_-Dwu-G_nxCkCMVuVXDtY6CAth2W-h5VNNYoysHRdIKq990eHWVqZh_xLWkzl60NOxZJn7Zn5v1WGidc/s2048/gallery+wall+%25281%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgTJCsM9sz-npA1hSv60X3YsqquWuz_z-RuqgLwa7mhkSnSLzs3jNrNRGRQBu_-Dwu-G_nxCkCMVuVXDtY6CAth2W-h5VNNYoysHRdIKq990eHWVqZh_xLWkzl60NOxZJn7Zn5v1WGidc/s320/gallery+wall+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I only made one nail hole for each painting (well, except for the ones that required 2 nails). It came out perfectly! Perhaps I should do this in the living room too!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFnxsmY8v2iGaO8ecNdBNmVpOcdYHlYe4WV5BfJorIqtbE-_PZfyOW0PKjgBgwNHFgsjOuQfRsqqAIoPpDNwNJB-EJite8PHN1oVyR4ntquddlPiL02HJc81Ook2alFyti7ja_kzS4d4Dy/s2048/gallery+wall+%25283%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFnxsmY8v2iGaO8ecNdBNmVpOcdYHlYe4WV5BfJorIqtbE-_PZfyOW0PKjgBgwNHFgsjOuQfRsqqAIoPpDNwNJB-EJite8PHN1oVyR4ntquddlPiL02HJc81Ook2alFyti7ja_kzS4d4Dy/s320/gallery+wall+%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Last but not least, is the house in Cambria. We used a primer by Zinsser called "Odor Killer." It works!! I had been told I MUST use shellac, but "be sure to turn off all gas, and be careful because it's explosive." !!! A different salesman suggested Odor Killer, so I tried it. It works amazingly well. <div><br /></div><div>We are working our way through the house, back to front, first coating everything with Odor Killer primer, then following with walls, then woodwork. In my last post, I shared the cards I made for my son and my granddaughter. This past week, I finished two more cards for friends. I haven't done much sewing, but some is better than none, right?</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGmQ49OdRb3od_o1IJr2aCiyMyKmT2BK7lin4AMIzODwUv6gxuz5Qz9ERxE7FujAu502cnx0EKyrIa5DbVu3PIncoMMbfKBkZ6dLkI0om_E014jCcpP1x52fkG2Th-2qlbdpBoBrvAbBbK/s2048/Jan+-+Bday+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGmQ49OdRb3od_o1IJr2aCiyMyKmT2BK7lin4AMIzODwUv6gxuz5Qz9ERxE7FujAu502cnx0EKyrIa5DbVu3PIncoMMbfKBkZ6dLkI0om_E014jCcpP1x52fkG2Th-2qlbdpBoBrvAbBbK/s320/Jan+-+Bday+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I found these fish faces in a bin. I'm not sure what I had planned for them, but I think this is effective, no?<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoeaQftr1EPrqsTdgn_TJBNZEqmfEnnPLYPlv1SY39ilLdY6_DE9I8BO4w6lRZ4CPvhnAun02iBYq3VsKe6IRauXq-vNNcOKDSiUKdPhbHUUrNrZV219TqiyQWeBFS01Yww_Xnpoi0PPz7/s2048/IMG_5671.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoeaQftr1EPrqsTdgn_TJBNZEqmfEnnPLYPlv1SY39ilLdY6_DE9I8BO4w6lRZ4CPvhnAun02iBYq3VsKe6IRauXq-vNNcOKDSiUKdPhbHUUrNrZV219TqiyQWeBFS01Yww_Xnpoi0PPz7/s320/IMG_5671.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Estate sales continue to be few and far between. However one popped up last weekend, that had several nautical-themed things and kitties. I LOVE this painted rock!! Hopefully it is a herald of many blooms to come. This one is in the backyard, in an iris patch that has rarely bloomed over the past 10 years. The neighbor cut down seven trees from the fence line, so these plants are getting much more sun than ever before. I look forward to seeing what color iris I have planted back there. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQzZcalya3hTGyxel9ye1Rz1HiZTCy7ygHPhHeSofZnKmI9QLMEhJHyOze1OZ9GzXyYqnvqoH0I2rMNM2Dlj9IA85yfdeq0CEBlVkYATVT0yFvNv8axDwnhWipaqMPoKniUBPliKgnKO98/s2048/Feb+23%252C+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQzZcalya3hTGyxel9ye1Rz1HiZTCy7ygHPhHeSofZnKmI9QLMEhJHyOze1OZ9GzXyYqnvqoH0I2rMNM2Dlj9IA85yfdeq0CEBlVkYATVT0yFvNv8axDwnhWipaqMPoKniUBPliKgnKO98/s320/Feb+23%252C+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" /></a></div>And that's all I've got for now. Hopefully I'll have more to post later this month.<div>Happy Quilting!<br /><p><br /></p></div>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-13194359901385608292021-03-03T08:00:00.006-08:002021-05-31T23:45:33.686-07:00Birthday Cards<p> A couple of weeks ago, I had cataracts surgery, so I haven't been doing a lot of sewing. I finished the Jean Impey class, but only have 9 stars on my design wall. I'm not sure if/when I will get back to them. There's so much to do, and I seem to be lacking time to get things done.</p><p>But yesterday, I took the time to make a couple of birthday cards. My middle son, when asked what he wanted for his birthday, replied, "World Peace." yeah, yeah, okay. He's said this before. I made a card similar to the one I gave him the last time he said he wanted World Piece. Here is this year's card:<br /><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNMCzrl8sT73bGhDHj8PGZXPW0-9GQllOF3Hx7ooHpTHyGPsH6qqfrEMKSWJksDA1D8aeJd7_2q24NWbGNYDfIzVBW7RK2aWCRW29loI7zSu2Ewhdf8wSQksUadHVD3kEgSvLL2RzHa1at/s640/DEK+-+bday+2021+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNMCzrl8sT73bGhDHj8PGZXPW0-9GQllOF3Hx7ooHpTHyGPsH6qqfrEMKSWJksDA1D8aeJd7_2q24NWbGNYDfIzVBW7RK2aWCRW29loI7zSu2Ewhdf8wSQksUadHVD3kEgSvLL2RzHa1at/s320/DEK+-+bday+2021+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It should fit with the first World Piece, though I'm not sure what kind of map it will create. In looking at the fabric, it does not seem to have the entire world, just a small portion of it, repeated again and again. oh well.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The other card I made is for my oldest granddaughter. Her tenth birthday is next week. I can't believe she is ten years old. wow!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-n1OX0bvr7xCadRLZafFT6NRpEjnpCbkaBTogSYHcbnhreFN-XngN2UX4hohcf-YlQw9QNTUjvn-sx1EgxUpdYYlJsLYvvmvpfVZ7il4wh7aKHof5oBiVrvc47rhhOU3Xyxvnag1LavEO/s640/Penny+-+bday+2021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-n1OX0bvr7xCadRLZafFT6NRpEjnpCbkaBTogSYHcbnhreFN-XngN2UX4hohcf-YlQw9QNTUjvn-sx1EgxUpdYYlJsLYvvmvpfVZ7il4wh7aKHof5oBiVrvc47rhhOU3Xyxvnag1LavEO/s320/Penny+-+bday+2021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">And that's all I've got for now. Hopefully my eyes will settle and I will become more productive as I get used to seeing intense colors. I am amazed by how washed out I'd thought the world had become. </div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">Happy Quilting!!</div><p></p>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-86381310224079009372021-02-18T06:51:00.001-08:002021-02-18T06:51:48.334-08:00Quilt(s) for Sale<p> A few years ago, I was a member of <a href="https://www.saqa.com/" target="_blank">SAQA</a>, Studio Art Quilt Associates. As a member, I enjoyed participating in their trunk shows and fundraisers. I am no longer a member, but I received an email from them earlier this month. I kept meaning to post it, I'm finally getting around to it.</p><p>I made a little quilt for the 2017 SAQA traveling trunk show. The trunks have finished their travels, and some of the little quilts are now for sale. When I say "little," I mean 10"x7". Very little.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgba37sJrMGPpbZQ27uwywalMMY6WPZSkcSTMnG5sqItfPdJU5irQJtLQ0WnaE06LGJeTCGr-IpVxDFv3Le3kFA15JmkbJp7JyTOADFB_r7PekpFfksWzdTuP_ZvI-n7fTcUVi6tLOoXlh5/s2048/Kistler_SunsetSea.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1526" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgba37sJrMGPpbZQ27uwywalMMY6WPZSkcSTMnG5sqItfPdJU5irQJtLQ0WnaE06LGJeTCGr-IpVxDFv3Le3kFA15JmkbJp7JyTOADFB_r7PekpFfksWzdTuP_ZvI-n7fTcUVi6tLOoXlh5/s320/Kistler_SunsetSea.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">"Sunset Sea"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This was my contribution. It is now for sale on the SAQA website, through the end of February. The remaining quilts for sale are listed in alphabetical order, by artist. You can find them <a href="https://airtable.com/shrbsqVjkwf9qoGLB/tblGsxbduWS8nzOlV" target="_blank">here</a>.</div><div><br /></div>I love seeing the myriad of designs and techniques that are exhibited in such a small space. After looking at the web page, I want to make more small art quilts. But for now? I have a few larger, more traditional quilts on my cutting/sewing tables. I'd best finish them before starting something new.<div><br /></div><div>Thank you for looking!<br /><p><br /></p></div>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-72071485031663793412021-02-14T09:02:00.000-08:002021-02-14T09:02:02.066-08:00Be Mine, Valentine(s)<p> For a change, I realized that Valentine's Day was quickly approaching...in early February. I made plans to make valentines for my grandchildren, then realized I was running out of time. Quick!! Stitch those hearts!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJa4-O8Hy4uL6o1Q4OgrY43L30s6fz7ASigmb-sYCkL_fMwgtqRV2YmSwv0Hb5l5-BHZX9vCxNJmWryIAOtqZjQZd06_O_zMzbXLeW8bXdh0ZdXga7zr3I-9z1FSqM15o61XmBK9hftaVs/s2048/Valentines+for+Grands+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJa4-O8Hy4uL6o1Q4OgrY43L30s6fz7ASigmb-sYCkL_fMwgtqRV2YmSwv0Hb5l5-BHZX9vCxNJmWryIAOtqZjQZd06_O_zMzbXLeW8bXdh0ZdXga7zr3I-9z1FSqM15o61XmBK9hftaVs/s320/Valentines+for+Grands+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Above shows the tops, below are the backs. There is a bunny, for P, who was born in the year of the rabbit. There are puppies for A, who LOVES dogs. There are street signs for truck-loving J, books for F, and balls for the youngest, H. Hopefully each will recognize his/her own valentine. If not, I will.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0z_GVgWZim4Ft0mCR9BKInUCivdGx8gsF80wOOwqmo2UYbj841-QzxVPqkYVwNa8hTP3xMfEuRpowsMAJ3FNbc9TiWBGhoKcUNVs-rF7IYXHrnU7jeJMh9soNG-7F2rA1zk2pDpVOKaLb/s2048/Valentines+for+Grands+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0z_GVgWZim4Ft0mCR9BKInUCivdGx8gsF80wOOwqmo2UYbj841-QzxVPqkYVwNa8hTP3xMfEuRpowsMAJ3FNbc9TiWBGhoKcUNVs-rF7IYXHrnU7jeJMh9soNG-7F2rA1zk2pDpVOKaLb/s320/Valentines+for+Grands+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Not wanting their parents to feel overlooked, I also made cards for my sons and their wives. The boys will be here for breakfast with the children. I decided to finish it off as a valentine-ish birthday card for a friend. I usually make winter-themed cards for her, since her birthday is in early February. This one is quite different.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFBgjEXFUWcTseyyfXBnZVj7BOVkbjDZ6kvJlpMi89Ukr4n4vYzOZqOdpAm5hdDjjF4Iag5JT5Z3TQ6LwOe4HZXFGYvWftd6CbPsWY0UUu7nLVMdinkNTic7OdfgnOQjgWF-EfF21CppS9/s640/Vicki+-+Bday+2021+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFBgjEXFUWcTseyyfXBnZVj7BOVkbjDZ6kvJlpMi89Ukr4n4vYzOZqOdpAm5hdDjjF4Iag5JT5Z3TQ6LwOe4HZXFGYvWftd6CbPsWY0UUu7nLVMdinkNTic7OdfgnOQjgWF-EfF21CppS9/s320/Vicki+-+Bday+2021+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>On Friday, I took part 1 of a Zoom class with <a href="https://sewjean.com/" target="_blank">Jean Impey</a>. The class is called "Twinkle," and it focuses on making Liberated Stars. My design wall already had a UFO in residence. hmmm. These seem to play well together. I wonder if they'll end up as a single piece?<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFZHIMECi64BBNXVG6h47wlx94OFtwKjUnsnIiCgVQxNpZXt2kc290QeO4uUJxJsuMPvYDuMIw5xaXYxqteoI_71yCVxAXW2DNGPRK2inw7SstAAw6TfEVMksJ4bruujjG_Ln0p99r1bJD/s640/Liberated+Stars.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFZHIMECi64BBNXVG6h47wlx94OFtwKjUnsnIiCgVQxNpZXt2kc290QeO4uUJxJsuMPvYDuMIw5xaXYxqteoI_71yCVxAXW2DNGPRK2inw7SstAAw6TfEVMksJ4bruujjG_Ln0p99r1bJD/s320/Liberated+Stars.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Yesterday, I realized that with all of the valentines I'd already made, I'd yet to make one for my Valentine. I spent the morning piecing this little house (the color of our big house), and trying to personalize it a bit. Each year, I make a valentine for him. You can see more of them <a href="https://faithquilter.blogspot.com/search/label/valentines" target="_blank">here</a>. I'm sure I had another post with ALL of the valentines I've made for my husband, but apparently I neglected to tag it. sigh.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Yxtiv3rsTcKIqW4tsmxiXDhBGHH4LEVRHY-P1W4reKlgFFLFJN5EpnwdPyZ2ZdzUgSmheEZdJf-oEBcSRtnc_8uKYSjpd6Uf_-pr8Xou8tSroj-wG8Us5DQOi_Hb9MXSPF53jtPVgIiF/s640/PGK+Valentine+-+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Yxtiv3rsTcKIqW4tsmxiXDhBGHH4LEVRHY-P1W4reKlgFFLFJN5EpnwdPyZ2ZdzUgSmheEZdJf-oEBcSRtnc_8uKYSjpd6Uf_-pr8Xou8tSroj-wG8Us5DQOi_Hb9MXSPF53jtPVgIiF/s320/PGK+Valentine+-+2021+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>In other news, I went to an estate sale on Friday, and had happy hunting. I found this cement pagoda, that reminds me of my mom. She had one similar, in her front yard.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ1UOMq6N3ctkAVxfF7aAtzNUTqgScJSko8_wMglBKJXKP6jWIyBtHH7ggIxKVJlkbTLLF-uTCZl_AoyTQxwio3lOS_v117GM3TYko8909BJ2FnWTpG_vwOHh0FEUJx51qyR-Y67t8faqx/s640/new+yard+art+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ1UOMq6N3ctkAVxfF7aAtzNUTqgScJSko8_wMglBKJXKP6jWIyBtHH7ggIxKVJlkbTLLF-uTCZl_AoyTQxwio3lOS_v117GM3TYko8909BJ2FnWTpG_vwOHh0FEUJx51qyR-Y67t8faqx/s320/new+yard+art+%25281%2529.JPG" /></a></div>I also found this pair of iris lamps. I bought them for Cambria House, but may end up keeping them here. I really like them!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH10c5JjqpOejUb9rUyH285BSOS01nzTnGWE7meq8_7QBOjTGVidCh9QbXBerYDsFkvE9_fOlHR_4W-zhGvOXXdW74rcrVEAmX5ui9RTdpQAZjT_NqCOjMhthPNJrIIKlPa9ibDUKfWH_B/s640/iris+lamps.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH10c5JjqpOejUb9rUyH285BSOS01nzTnGWE7meq8_7QBOjTGVidCh9QbXBerYDsFkvE9_fOlHR_4W-zhGvOXXdW74rcrVEAmX5ui9RTdpQAZjT_NqCOjMhthPNJrIIKlPa9ibDUKfWH_B/s320/iris+lamps.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And speaking of Cambria House, work continues. I pulled up carpet last week, and found that the floor beneath the window is squishy and falling. Not only does it need to be replaced, but the subflooring as well. But first, the foundation.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio3uj11F1JhVq5FxGurawtrqpQJcKGx-phVjSJsl6HQVEIq7w9laucMh7q1CvBOlmydpWwIYCpkLxwlgy80Bsyh1q_tUvmVHojv8aVixyQ4ypSXGbP5H4EyP5AB7dk9RFt6elyva5EabB7/s2048/Bedroom+%25231.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio3uj11F1JhVq5FxGurawtrqpQJcKGx-phVjSJsl6HQVEIq7w9laucMh7q1CvBOlmydpWwIYCpkLxwlgy80Bsyh1q_tUvmVHojv8aVixyQ4ypSXGbP5H4EyP5AB7dk9RFt6elyva5EabB7/s320/Bedroom+%25231.JPG" /></a></div>All in all, the vacation home will be an adventure. It may look like the above today, but that will change. In contrast, it is a mile or two from the ocean, which also changes...but is always there, should we wish to visit.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE3LBLUlI0sNDP8MiU7_c6M_JfzgsBJ1uA8wotxpcSRljZVwRCV2qyLsjFSCC0ExsAvQcH07KyLDob7TJDI_XHMsQLHfSJtF3CfcoDKr5-b39aTqU7TUNrXY5u1yUA7J4B5P7RM43S8JWE/s2048/IMG_5524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE3LBLUlI0sNDP8MiU7_c6M_JfzgsBJ1uA8wotxpcSRljZVwRCV2qyLsjFSCC0ExsAvQcH07KyLDob7TJDI_XHMsQLHfSJtF3CfcoDKr5-b39aTqU7TUNrXY5u1yUA7J4B5P7RM43S8JWE/s320/IMG_5524.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And with that, I've got a breakfast to assemble before heading off to church.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh17lpAx1V9mCbv6PyJWBN0shVHGPlwRGwNHFfVomdqOOSqWCG_M96GmCIaKmdiOKW6PajZbMkqRZHNIcWlQo1Wp4jUbirOYx8j-h5qMt7ajnOddeU_y1RGveXFE1cY-AKC6IUnzlIom1Q5/s640/IMG_5629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh17lpAx1V9mCbv6PyJWBN0shVHGPlwRGwNHFfVomdqOOSqWCG_M96GmCIaKmdiOKW6PajZbMkqRZHNIcWlQo1Wp4jUbirOYx8j-h5qMt7ajnOddeU_y1RGveXFE1cY-AKC6IUnzlIom1Q5/s320/IMG_5629.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Happy Valentine's Day!<br /><div><br /><div><br /><p><br /></p></div></div>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-41997534598384172722021-02-09T07:33:00.000-08:002021-02-09T07:33:15.619-08:00And, Blink! It's February!<p> Where do the days go? I wish I had a pile of quiltie pictures to share, but I do not. I have spent some time with fabric, but not much that has been productive. Well, there was one <i>old </i>UFO, that was "fixed."</p><p>In 2014, we made basket blocks for our outgoing guild President. I finished my basket, but did not find the time to fill it. I turned it in "as is," and thought I'd either fill it later, or make a replacement block.</p><p>Last month, Leslie returned the basket, with the request to "fill it with flowers, please." Alrighty then. No more procrastination, (though you'll have to admit that 6 years was a pretty impressive delay, right?)</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ0Exw1mGXqDSIfJsQIetBaQEI-mYdRSIZDdquH9Rb3G_CsTLMTSZ-12gCLkwcPjP7sRwx9akzfymytLn3Xy7673zK7u4C112buQo6glRr-zJKhGRRKkIruEfMR5KR2GBZChEJmH0Fgh9j/s640/Leslie+-+2014+Prez+block+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ0Exw1mGXqDSIfJsQIetBaQEI-mYdRSIZDdquH9Rb3G_CsTLMTSZ-12gCLkwcPjP7sRwx9akzfymytLn3Xy7673zK7u4C112buQo6glRr-zJKhGRRKkIruEfMR5KR2GBZChEJmH0Fgh9j/s320/Leslie+-+2014+Prez+block+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Above is the "before." Below is the "after." I think it finished well. I am glad that I was given a second chance to improve it. I no longer cringe when I see it.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglOHzZCCuP1pPbURAwYqcmbygAo0c4aNWIxxZeaL_cHlCSx7u94RrTm-tv6kzVOE_Eujr-dCiW5iCYHKq9Y5KwJ4D_7sp_PCUCwojhFAd94Bev1VQj0VN-2jm2H71kWDLNW9sKXaPeKuJa/s640/Leslie+-+2014+Prez+block+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglOHzZCCuP1pPbURAwYqcmbygAo0c4aNWIxxZeaL_cHlCSx7u94RrTm-tv6kzVOE_Eujr-dCiW5iCYHKq9Y5KwJ4D_7sp_PCUCwojhFAd94Bev1VQj0VN-2jm2H71kWDLNW9sKXaPeKuJa/s320/Leslie+-+2014+Prez+block+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I've been working on <a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter's</a> <a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/grassy-creek-mystery.html" target="_blank">Grassy Creek Mystery</a>. When I pulled up the carpet in the front bedroom? I think I found the culprit. The floor and subflooring are collapsing under the window. We have foundation experts scheduled for ASAP, which might still be a month out or longer. Once the foundation is stabilized, we'll be hiring an expert to work on the subfloor and floor. We'd like to replace the wood floor with another wood floor. It really is beautiful, though it is showing its age. (This part of the house is at least 80 years old.)<div><br /></div><div>Our other big news is the recent announcement of grandchild #6, due in September.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3wkIAESMnE-VsmkTJGA94gzNaunm1L-MSY6I-vR67GxGY8h8b0xgC5-J140wHbCUvv1Sx1W99t1aTZQxwcB79B2P1nSJvOcb3M0SD1J5NXlv0v5nDU1yJyApUSQQDrXVRYinXvhIDfLU/s1600/Grandbaby+%25236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3wkIAESMnE-VsmkTJGA94gzNaunm1L-MSY6I-vR67GxGY8h8b0xgC5-J140wHbCUvv1Sx1W99t1aTZQxwcB79B2P1nSJvOcb3M0SD1J5NXlv0v5nDU1yJyApUSQQDrXVRYinXvhIDfLU/s320/Grandbaby+%25236.JPG" /></a></div><p>Many people are ruing these days, but I've learned it is much better to learn to give thanks in ALL things. The class was with the <a href="https://materialgirlfriends.com" target="_blank">Material Girlfriends</a>, and was called "Rosie Runner." We had planned our annual guild retreat, but since that was cancelled? We met together online via Zoom instead.</p><p>It was great fun to dig through my scrap box, rather than cut into new yardage. I found that I had a LOT of scrap reds to play with. woohoo! <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtT6AT9uIXzCQELRho5GKgwjgXN_pqhQOM03kxt_kP9nwcpwqdRY_76bx-0GfGoLAAyBakQ0J7I-65XHCGVO1m2QqRj_pImMgyi333bg9j_3Ywr__fScaz9KmPIBfqGqtiWc6Pbe0UfDos/s640/Run+for+the+Roses+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtT6AT9uIXzCQELRho5GKgwjgXN_pqhQOM03kxt_kP9nwcpwqdRY_76bx-0GfGoLAAyBakQ0J7I-65XHCGVO1m2QqRj_pImMgyi333bg9j_3Ywr__fScaz9KmPIBfqGqtiWc6Pbe0UfDos/s320/Run+for+the+Roses+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I think I got this far on the project during the course of the day:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgolac78mZ3g-v5owQD3WnQEEzRiKkBj9Bb5IGpgnW9U3oDRecH80cQrx1hnhe36u2L8kZWWxTh1-urHBmZloEJw0h98xZ69x2mIE2_Gu-xqB8Z49QI9P-V2at6U7zaYu7XS7thiGGx7dbA/s640/Run+for+the+Roses+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgolac78mZ3g-v5owQD3WnQEEzRiKkBj9Bb5IGpgnW9U3oDRecH80cQrx1hnhe36u2L8kZWWxTh1-urHBmZloEJw0h98xZ69x2mIE2_Gu-xqB8Z49QI9P-V2at6U7zaYu7XS7thiGGx7dbA/s320/Run+for+the+Roses+%25284%2529.JPG" /></a></div>Here is the finished table runner:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikR7jYNjh7bNGHFMx_OFWNg4xZMMwS1Q4-OggOgYsRO_FAi6ZvgxUu11lTaUJExC3gxRF1DeqwfQqGhHK-gh8Z2hTn4GwVI3un23Gsd9inCKOiBDHTGDT3cTM2R6pVcrVzkNk1tWUH6hPE/s640/Run+for+the+Roses+-+complete+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikR7jYNjh7bNGHFMx_OFWNg4xZMMwS1Q4-OggOgYsRO_FAi6ZvgxUu11lTaUJExC3gxRF1DeqwfQqGhHK-gh8Z2hTn4GwVI3un23Gsd9inCKOiBDHTGDT3cTM2R6pVcrVzkNk1tWUH6hPE/s320/Run+for+the+Roses+-+complete+%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Here is is, in context:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvLUm_w8OaUDMboNF61S9uVlW0oDmaabk85ZqcjCTRdjzH9unm3odcsBd7eNv_Z7GYLML84lUKGcDXYkAtDDuDAFioZOjWOKeOoCO3_JYbd39Rqyonzzlfg5wi-kMQhi1P5CBjWaPUbib_/s640/Run+for+the+Roses+-+complete+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvLUm_w8OaUDMboNF61S9uVlW0oDmaabk85ZqcjCTRdjzH9unm3odcsBd7eNv_Z7GYLML84lUKGcDXYkAtDDuDAFioZOjWOKeOoCO3_JYbd39Rqyonzzlfg5wi-kMQhi1P5CBjWaPUbib_/s320/Run+for+the+Roses+-+complete+%25282%2529.JPG" /></a></div>When a friend saw that I was making this, she called dibs. But I keep my eyes open and my ears to the ground, and every once in a while, one will come to my attention. This happened last month...or was it the month before? It's kind of blurring. Anyway, one of our dear guild members passed away in the Fall, and her house was cleared out. I heard about the sale, and off I went.</p><p>I was most interested in her quilts, primarily because I had quilted one of them several years back. I put hours upon hours into it, and cringed when I gave her the bill. But she LOVED it. It was in the estate sale, for about 10% of what I charged her to quilt it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstCN3savL0T12xBnMJcc_mH4v_NlUO8W3dquD2gcfmvyUTlXPMiDIkdgML0KHJprUumLqdl6iA44ziC32rcFWoPJ86pjosx8zsLedviBjFrBqjdOpGvlNFziySw-WRrwxUbZXlRFbqDWL/s640/quilt+for+hire+-+finished+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstCN3savL0T12xBnMJcc_mH4v_NlUO8W3dquD2gcfmvyUTlXPMiDIkdgML0KHJprUumLqdl6iA44ziC32rcFWoPJ86pjosx8zsLedviBjFrBqjdOpGvlNFziySw-WRrwxUbZXlRFbqDWL/s320/quilt+for+hire+-+finished+001.jpg" /></a></div>Oh, look at that. It HAS been years since I quilted that quilt! This is an old picture, taken when I finished the quilting. In the years since, I've peeled off that wallpaper, and painted the wall...purple! I hadn't even thought about putting it on our bed yet. I should try that and see how it looks. wow!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhexGSdVloO0g0Sc_-6crvMH9B8_17_Uj2U9298tOqNL0biyWpVENHvwOfcznb-pvHesSh1ip7FEqjM42IIazvP4aG4ndC1G_Yro-wIgZQjGOQwyj4UbhxsqVzBhCO7ic28-I_CY8mleFD-/s640/quilt+for+hire+-+finished+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhexGSdVloO0g0Sc_-6crvMH9B8_17_Uj2U9298tOqNL0biyWpVENHvwOfcznb-pvHesSh1ip7FEqjM42IIazvP4aG4ndC1G_Yro-wIgZQjGOQwyj4UbhxsqVzBhCO7ic28-I_CY8mleFD-/s320/quilt+for+hire+-+finished+004.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p>Above is a close-up of the quilting. It is an over-sized queen. As I said, it took hours to quilt it. I couldn't believe it was up for grabs at the estate sale.</p><p>Next is another quilt of Phyllis', that I bought at the sale. This one is flannel, and oh, so cozy! I had just washed it, dried it, and was letting it dry even more in this quick photo. (A friend wondered if this was a quilt she had quilted for Phyllis. It wasn't.)<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXypSwNmsz6rRB6ihvwPAHNhc7-36x3b9gmFfkySFMJCmQenrTOjNK7dHoTqU2VLQ5vIYNaYL1ekymzcarlfYSYmtP8jB4kz7newp3cgQlR0kfjcuEggkLblnG1gL5b3yxykTL4hg_fy1p/s2048/IMG_5482.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXypSwNmsz6rRB6ihvwPAHNhc7-36x3b9gmFfkySFMJCmQenrTOjNK7dHoTqU2VLQ5vIYNaYL1ekymzcarlfYSYmtP8jB4kz7newp3cgQlR0kfjcuEggkLblnG1gL5b3yxykTL4hg_fy1p/s320/IMG_5482.JPG" /></a></div>On her bulletin board were her ribbons. When Phyllis' year ended, I had been in charge of her quilt. I had asked everyone to make their favorite 12" (finished) block, and to sign it on the outside, so that we would know whose block it was. Then I set them together, in a way that would give us some space to quilt.</p><p>I love the variety, don't you? The only problem with the plan, was that Phyllis did not do much hand quilting. We began quilting it at one of the first Best of the Valley quilt shows, and I hadn't seen it since. When I would ask her about it, she would shake her head and say she didn't know what happened to it.</p><p>Once I finish my "current" - and I use the phrase loosely - hand quilting project, this is what I want to tackle next. It is actually close to half done. Quilted in the 90's, it does not have the sort of elaborate quilting that you usually see nowadays. It's more functional quilting, to hold the 3 layers together, with little more than stitch in the ditch. I may finish it with that, and then decide if it needs a bit more.</p><p>So, that's what I've got for today. Some older quilts, once again seeing the light of day. There's nothing better than a quilt made with love, to wrap up in, on a cold winter's day.</p><p>Happy Quilting!<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-84151741690046378922021-01-01T11:32:00.001-08:002021-01-01T11:32:42.613-08:00Happy New Year!!<p> wow. 2020 is in the can. It is certainly a year that got away from me! I don't quite know what happened to the last few months, except that we continue to be blessed with good health and family nearby. The days were filled with a LOT of babysitting, with grandchildren coming and going and lots of hugs shared each day.</p><p>Quilting? Definitely ended up in the backseat of 2020, which is quite a surprise for me. I took stock of my UFO list. Here is what I completed in 2020:</p><p>6 quilts, 5 valentine toys (stuffed hearts), 10 potholders, 23 fabric postcards, 24 quilted cards</p><p>Apparently my priority was not finishing quilts, but finishing quilted projects. My 2020 UFO List began with 40 quilts, and ended with 36. My 2021 UFO List has 39 items on it so far. I am looking through my piles of projects, so see if there are any others begun and then set aside during the year. Not TOO many, so that's good. I don't know that I've ever begun a year with fewer than 40 UFO's.<br /></p><p>2020 was less about my UFO list and more about prioritizing the things that are most important. I spent a LOT of time with our sons and their families. I spent a LOT of time with the grandchildren. I spent more time with my husband, and less time bemoaning the hours he spends working. Instead, I've chosen to be grateful for all that we have been blessed with, rather than bemoaning desires unfulfilled.</p><p>The result has been more than I ever would have imagined for 2020. No more unrestricted travel, no more luxury dining, no more this, no more that, no more the other thing. Turns out, the time was right for us to invest in a second home, something we've talked of for over a decade. </p><p>The new home needs a lot of TLC, which has already begun. The roofer has sealed the leaks, and I meet with the plumber, and, hopefully electrician this week. The termite man is on call, as is The Mold Doctor. As I said, lots of TLC. But with the state of things in the State of California? It's not like we have anything else with which to fill our days. This new Project is just perfect! And when the work is done? We'll have a delightful getaway for our family and friends, for years to come. </p><p>As to resolutions? I resolve to post more frequently. I resolve to sew more, to take more pictures, and to share them with you. Here are some Christmas presents that can be shown, now that they have been gifted:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo5PmlMI3czVzw6xEByv1I1b5B42bhF-PA74Iuvx-w9Uyl99o88KBFvS7POeg_sH5FXwqTjdHo6xkU5NGRtI49Z48AeEM3qDAVhxnA8g7z6uKC4uTJ8i3BNRu9b_lXzXHEpZpvGgygXnp_/s2048/IMG_5348.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo5PmlMI3czVzw6xEByv1I1b5B42bhF-PA74Iuvx-w9Uyl99o88KBFvS7POeg_sH5FXwqTjdHo6xkU5NGRtI49Z48AeEM3qDAVhxnA8g7z6uKC4uTJ8i3BNRu9b_lXzXHEpZpvGgygXnp_/s320/IMG_5348.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>There was a 4th set of potholders. The days run together, along with the weeks, and now months. Days are filled with this, that, and not a lot of anything. It is hard to come up with content for posting. One would think that with all of this time on my hands, I would be uber-productive. Not me. sigh.</p><p>I did make a couple of little pillowcases this week, for two little pillows that had been on my studio floor for almost a year. Imagine how much space that left behind! yay!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WiIakm9OsrBbdvHdJXvOMEbxh_I9tF67P5lVfaFXC-KvggAF97zWXRdOSvezF2QYH8D8td9J20WSj9GemA8uu0zmFxvm1YZv7Wj1o6ZBShs1zZ8-6wGk_HZ1NChhhCUEJZVeBls9nHeH/s640/little+pillowcases.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WiIakm9OsrBbdvHdJXvOMEbxh_I9tF67P5lVfaFXC-KvggAF97zWXRdOSvezF2QYH8D8td9J20WSj9GemA8uu0zmFxvm1YZv7Wj1o6ZBShs1zZ8-6wGk_HZ1NChhhCUEJZVeBls9nHeH/s320/little+pillowcases.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>My DIL asked for a green mask, to match a dress she plans to wear to a wedding. She indicated that embroidered flowers would be really pretty. I made a plain mask, an embroidered mask, and a third mask with a floral print. I'm sure she will find the opportunity to use them all.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGJSo_ByZVuUzBO1vBNDir1RNxhZNFv7h-HJ21YsP_hFL2kJMGwVlgnGvm9nnW1kLncT7tJXkK_NTCH1kcOC1gqUR0byzILOeG4kvWLWBXXYvPySsOxHMkuDHJ_E0zL7jZT23PWq9pU7UQ/s640/dress+mask+collection.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGJSo_ByZVuUzBO1vBNDir1RNxhZNFv7h-HJ21YsP_hFL2kJMGwVlgnGvm9nnW1kLncT7tJXkK_NTCH1kcOC1gqUR0byzILOeG4kvWLWBXXYvPySsOxHMkuDHJ_E0zL7jZT23PWq9pU7UQ/s320/dress+mask+collection.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Over the past month, I learned to cure olives. yummy!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMtgwSbfQ0b_DYVcbhEXz4MUfyxjkQX7bBUZEMnvGZdUy6KSwGLT9jNHluxMLZHzf7atFSCZ_LI1JmQiMGyf0tVvWGqcMSMHMV2q_NIv51ZDsSQXjIiplNphkgfHID3wmq_bL468EYyDFB/s2048/EUGI4991.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMtgwSbfQ0b_DYVcbhEXz4MUfyxjkQX7bBUZEMnvGZdUy6KSwGLT9jNHluxMLZHzf7atFSCZ_LI1JmQiMGyf0tVvWGqcMSMHMV2q_NIv51ZDsSQXjIiplNphkgfHID3wmq_bL468EYyDFB/s320/EUGI4991.JPG" /></a></div>I made my first cheesecakes in decades. The shoes were all size 42. If you've ever looked for 42's, you know that they are not easy to find. When I chose the boots and a pair of flip flops, they offered me the entire collection for $25. wow! I feel like Imelda Marcos now!! Only a couple of the thongs are uncomfortable. The other shoes? Yesterday, I was excited to quilt my way to the second corner of my current project. woohoo!! Perhaps I will be able to finish the rest this year. I am SO excited to make visible progress!</p><p>Huh. I thought I'd taken a picture last night, but I guess not. Hopefully I will remember for my next post.</p><p>This year, our county fair had a drive-through fair. My son took his family, and reported that it was "okay, but really short." He prefers the in-person fair, where they can spend hours and exhaust children, rather than have them stuck backwards in a car seat, trying to point out the "sights."</p><p>They had a quilt competition, with 14 entries. I entered two in the Professional Quilters category. I had the only quilts in that category, so was awarded 1st place and BOS, Professional on one, and 2nd on the other. I have not received any ribbons, though they said they would mail them.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisAxt97zVhNOKzexpWdHM66pH55mzzowxpLd_C-8yjdBaQEjWskK6twWv-zDAEZrrD8wcHRSY8qT1xGT4bOX1jv9nLu_e6qC2TNMauFRM3uhqpzOMJQMOPp7U7Z99m1DIw8iBT-MDI2qWY/s1500/Sunset+Stroll+-+crop%252C+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="911" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisAxt97zVhNOKzexpWdHM66pH55mzzowxpLd_C-8yjdBaQEjWskK6twWv-zDAEZrrD8wcHRSY8qT1xGT4bOX1jv9nLu_e6qC2TNMauFRM3uhqpzOMJQMOPp7U7Z99m1DIw8iBT-MDI2qWY/s320/Sunset+Stroll+-+crop%252C+resize.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">"Sunset Stroll," 1st place and BOS, Professional - Tulare County Fair 2020</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDXCdIYiZjNSgTRWzZjQ88VU9uaGUnUCTy7b8C9kxkYBO33dWmFw2YGNP_FFK7KYcMHLyFWno4XRp3Ej30sj4dNINEvTG5KQvZdhZ7_NlSO89Tgf3GRbnRztSdKOVLnQp15xKZvL70fg1/s1200/Two+Beauties.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1193" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDXCdIYiZjNSgTRWzZjQ88VU9uaGUnUCTy7b8C9kxkYBO33dWmFw2YGNP_FFK7KYcMHLyFWno4XRp3Ej30sj4dNINEvTG5KQvZdhZ7_NlSO89Tgf3GRbnRztSdKOVLnQp15xKZvL70fg1/s320/Two+Beauties.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">"Two Beauties," 2nd place, Professional - Tulare County Fair 2020</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I really wish I had more to share, but I've been spending a great deal of time babysitting. I know when it's Wednesday, because I babysit my grandson. I know when it's Sunday, because of church. Other than that? I have to check my phone. And the date? Why is it even important any more?</p><p>Oh! Dates are important, because birthdays are celebrated on them. September we have three birthdays, so we're in the middle of celebrating. I've made a few cards, but, as usual, have fallen behind. I feel like most of my time is spent with grandchildren. With 4 locals, aged 2 and under, well, I need to pay attention when they are here. No doubt about it!!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHJP6tam2ihdi2Ure7lrLiNA0QK0s0cO9t3ey3ZM46cJLM8r7RAqKwVSBRV1M5BN7N4mg5mElppO1dpSyqU0cdquzJ3U8MYvNGS5_ibkUfcvqJoN7D-7OxJD6TvpfcAq0ZxIxih410yrHJ/s640/bday+card.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHJP6tam2ihdi2Ure7lrLiNA0QK0s0cO9t3ey3ZM46cJLM8r7RAqKwVSBRV1M5BN7N4mg5mElppO1dpSyqU0cdquzJ3U8MYvNGS5_ibkUfcvqJoN7D-7OxJD6TvpfcAq0ZxIxih410yrHJ/s320/bday+card.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I've made more masks, for Fall.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxiQk2SQecFTxK2Ka89znIzOIak8efAmq4RR7MYBOLAsPwW4B_cy58jC97t0Hw9PVi-QrfPcxmFFV5JH38xj_mRwsyFl48OvdvwNXnH4p-irG1sDDSYuN9VtZVVOl54RRunHpuowJMiQtU/s640/IMG_5006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxiQk2SQecFTxK2Ka89znIzOIak8efAmq4RR7MYBOLAsPwW4B_cy58jC97t0Hw9PVi-QrfPcxmFFV5JH38xj_mRwsyFl48OvdvwNXnH4p-irG1sDDSYuN9VtZVVOl54RRunHpuowJMiQtU/s320/IMG_5006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And I made my first potholders, as a gift.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxgUQkOeIOtGM79sPUVR3Pnl5c0PKTT4FdWkQpxOBydmD2HURX7xZv_svjjj5bK1QrW6hvRO8Qq9HyRD7lLd7XthDNct1oFwRy6MbQDCQ6sm_Bzpwx4PbqE9lWVbgp5FsqznUlaVCgJ_NS/s640/1st+pair+of+potholders.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxgUQkOeIOtGM79sPUVR3Pnl5c0PKTT4FdWkQpxOBydmD2HURX7xZv_svjjj5bK1QrW6hvRO8Qq9HyRD7lLd7XthDNct1oFwRy6MbQDCQ6sm_Bzpwx4PbqE9lWVbgp5FsqznUlaVCgJ_NS/s320/1st+pair+of+potholders.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I quilted some Komforters for Kids, our guild philanthropy.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx5gNsgSA9ICtQmLfLUPCE2oq3RlSdGaii2nIq3sDznxFmnWAa6n1kRE57vXn5_beW_6BRfEkOgbgzN1IJJKOBRYNNYT8XZbqg39RBbec8V-GJR91zyIan4m9wEVglXTk_oi1u1cDqDjN2/s640/5+finished+KFK.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx5gNsgSA9ICtQmLfLUPCE2oq3RlSdGaii2nIq3sDznxFmnWAa6n1kRE57vXn5_beW_6BRfEkOgbgzN1IJJKOBRYNNYT8XZbqg39RBbec8V-GJR91zyIan4m9wEVglXTk_oi1u1cDqDjN2/s320/5+finished+KFK.JPG" /></a></div>I baked baklava.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0I1Yxrn05Nw4-TIwQKRZCifDpy9L561m9gn9H8vpjtuAGY7JHubMQ8t1nqXnBiYKhRm9_vAP5NBYoWWymYYwyW1kRnLZM2CvKUZS_cRU_5nTe2towKYFq32uZ6ZTWvK4gMSnUdM-WTzDG/s640/baklava.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0I1Yxrn05Nw4-TIwQKRZCifDpy9L561m9gn9H8vpjtuAGY7JHubMQ8t1nqXnBiYKhRm9_vAP5NBYoWWymYYwyW1kRnLZM2CvKUZS_cRU_5nTe2towKYFq32uZ6ZTWvK4gMSnUdM-WTzDG/s320/baklava.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>My husband's garden keeps producing, which keeps me busy making Mediterranean stuffed bell peppers and ratatouille.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE4C2cn1YHwk9HTRCZ4uHNzFvdX373P5NYlxLP4gEDofdXDtXZhF39xvdJz-rvWgbdDsTlbUz0FMnygrsWV8w5QLjjexDiyXNycLBIMjHIyfb9EsIydbkW_8E8rDyt5TXNCSMG4nosl0Pz/s640/Farmer+Pete%2527s+Harvest+-+Sept+20%252C+2020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE4C2cn1YHwk9HTRCZ4uHNzFvdX373P5NYlxLP4gEDofdXDtXZhF39xvdJz-rvWgbdDsTlbUz0FMnygrsWV8w5QLjjexDiyXNycLBIMjHIyfb9EsIydbkW_8E8rDyt5TXNCSMG4nosl0Pz/s320/Farmer+Pete%2527s+Harvest+-+Sept+20%252C+2020.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And, finally, we had our first shake of walnuts. I guess the biggest news is that my hand quilting project is 19/25 of the way complete. I've got about 6 square feet of hand quilting left to finish. I've been quilting on this project since April, so I am excited to think that I might actually have another finish before the end of the year. It's hard to know which day of the week it is, let along which month. I don't know about you, but I seem to have hit a bit of a malaise. Without deadlines, it's hard to stay motivated to do anything. sigh. I've been reading a lot, not sewing much.</p><p>This past month, I've finished a few cards. Unfortunately, I neglected to take pictures of all of them. In the past month since I've posted, apparently Blogger completely revamped itself. I hope I know what I'm doing. It's so strange to look at. I feel a bit lost.</p><p>Let's see, what has happened in the last month? We went to Cambria again, and delighted in the cooler weather. I wish I could go back today, since it's predicted to hit 105. It's just a prelude to a week of 109. ugh.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixIyCFh53Rfi3GnBKMrkmEnJKNTDZ_GW2jS4Lu0isSPFeLQlcHt9-13DkdxzbZwJSj4jLVLJ6TMpOJA0k2R5rJA7E4_P4I0LXP7p4tQ3IWEJKRa0NOHr69g9ZFYIMISqvS-hZ6HDuVav8p/s1200/Outdoor+Dining.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixIyCFh53Rfi3GnBKMrkmEnJKNTDZ_GW2jS4Lu0isSPFeLQlcHt9-13DkdxzbZwJSj4jLVLJ6TMpOJA0k2R5rJA7E4_P4I0LXP7p4tQ3IWEJKRa0NOHr69g9ZFYIMISqvS-hZ6HDuVav8p/s640/Outdoor+Dining.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>When at home, I watch my grandson every Wednesday. How is that even possible? In June, I guess we tried to make up for what we'd missed out on in March, April, and May. Now that it's July? We're back under wraps. ugh.<br />
<br />
Back in June, we celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary in Cambria. What a lovely weekend!! We ate in restaurants and stayed in a hotel and had a fabulous time!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNug1i6-7bx8M7CFyWCuwqC1tQhG-BASZwIj-Z7pGloXN9WJncPqUf89SVgR8kXBkhaOvnaVZ4a_4RADHB96BZIjGIJiAxQ0wz8wcwG7zwshbVQ5FaqainVLj4Yx9lMe-4XUzhwH3n5omF/s1600/Happy+39th+Anniversary.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1200" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNug1i6-7bx8M7CFyWCuwqC1tQhG-BASZwIj-Z7pGloXN9WJncPqUf89SVgR8kXBkhaOvnaVZ4a_4RADHB96BZIjGIJiAxQ0wz8wcwG7zwshbVQ5FaqainVLj4Yx9lMe-4XUzhwH3n5omF/s320/Happy+39th+Anniversary.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
We walked up and down three different beaches, and had a delightful time in the 66 degrees. At home, it was 107.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We drove north of San Simeon to see the elephant seals. Do these guys know how to snooze or what? No social distancing here!!<br />

It took all month, but I finally finished some postcards that were begun in May.<br />

I mailed them out in June, but to date? I've only heard from 3 people that they were received. odd. One arrived yesterday. wow. Almost 2 weeks from CA to CO. What's with that?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I also took the time to bake a few blackberry cobblers. I got the recipe from the <a href="https://www.bing.com/search?q=Blackberry+Cobbler+%231&filters=ufn%3a%22Blackberry+Cobbler+1%22+sid%3a%2262c98cbd-5f7e-ae0e-2ebc-4249dcdce9af%22+segment%3a%22generic.carousel%22+secq%3a%22the+pioneer+woman+blackberry+cobbler%22+supwlcar%3a%221%22+tsource%3a%22EntitySegments%22+catesegtype%3a%22recipe%22+cack%3a%2254f6e957-91e4-4971-958c-b86e4a6827c0%22+segtype%3a%22UmVjaXBl%22+ctype%3a%220%22+mltype%3a%220%22+eltypedim1%3a%22Recipe%22&FORM=RECICA&crslsl=0" target="_blank">Pioneer Woman</a>. Finally, I continue to work on my hand quilting project. Quilt, quilt, quilt. I'm not yet halfway through, though I try to quilt each day. So far, July has been less than productive. Oh well. I've posted today, so that's something, right?<br />
<br />
Stay healthy and enjoy life!!<br />

We spent the weekend celebrating, before the world turned upside down. It began with a day out, which was SO nice after the months of staying home. We visited an estate sale, then an antique mall, and ended up near the entrance to Sequoia National Park for lunch. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We sat riverside and watched the Kaweah flow by. It is much lower than I've seen before, but it could be time of year. It was hot - 91 - and a bit muggy, but, still, getting out to eat was a treat.<br />

They had a unique avian scavenger, in addition to the usual sparrows. This one waddled onto the deck, just as we were getting ready to leave.<br />

On Saturday morning, I went to the Farmers Market. It was a shadow of its former self, but I came away with fresh flowers, eggs, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, apricots and fresh tomatoes. I hope that they are there again on Saturday, because I want to make it a habit to shop there.</div>

My sister came to visit for the weekend, bringing a cake made from scratch. She'd asked what my favorite cake was, then found that none of her bakeries were offering lemon cakes in their limited inventories. She baked the cake layers, made lemon cream cheese frosting, and homemade lemon curd. Oh, yum!!</div>

Yesterday was my actual birthday. The day was quiet, spent at home, listening with horror to the reports coming in from around the country. So much can change, literally overnight. I remain hopeful that good will triumph over evil. God is in control of all things. Perhaps we should look to Habbakuk:<br />

Still in quarantine? Our County Board of Supervisors voted to open our county last week. Even though I've gone nowhere but the grocery store, I feel different. It's odd how much a proclamation can do to change things, even if it's only words. Perhaps this week I will go out and about, to see if anything really is different.<br />
<br />
I haven't made any masks recently, but two were called into service last week, when one of the grands needed to visit the doctor.<br />

My daughters-in-law have both been called back to work, so that is exciting. I'm hopeful that other places of business will also lift their restrictions.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, I'm still sewing daily. I made a few more cards, though I haven't sent them all.<br />

These were made for a mother/daughter duo. I found a beautiful dresser linen that looked like someone took a bite from the middle. I couldn't pass it by, since I knew parts could still be useful.<br />

I've also gone back to doing some collage work, with fabric scraps. This was inspired by my garden. Each time I look at it, I smile.<br />

And, last, but not least, I continue to hand quilt 3 hours each day. I've taken a few days off, when my fingers just can't continue, but I'm making good progress. I hope to finish this quilt before we hit July. Goals are good!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
And that's all I've got for now. Be safe, but don't be scared. Go outside, take a big breath of fresh air. Summer is almost here, and the days are looking brighter.</div>

Happy Quilting!</div>

We left it up to them, as to whether or not they feel safe in our presence. All of them accepted, so it was time to put two more leaves in the table, as well as dig up a few more chairs. Once that was done, I went on a hunt for a tablecloth. Interesting. The only tablecloths I have of this size are Christmas. That just won't do.<br />
<br />
I then went on a hunt for YARDAGE in my stash. Turns out I needed 6 yards, and then some. After digging into the back of beyond, I tracked down a suitable candidate.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1HoyoWcPNwpdmlMD93hFsqQfRTWj9E7dtAoAQvbaM6qk7gGkI0XkqlVPdn56TIzOjCq9fvaW_iWHI6LijRJBG8sF2u2O34m724adX-Hc3oEiZ8jhP72nH7JTgMa85FwgAAbEDH6sxgJcP/s1600/homemade+tablecloth+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1HoyoWcPNwpdmlMD93hFsqQfRTWj9E7dtAoAQvbaM6qk7gGkI0XkqlVPdn56TIzOjCq9fvaW_iWHI6LijRJBG8sF2u2O34m724adX-Hc3oEiZ8jhP72nH7JTgMa85FwgAAbEDH6sxgJcP/s320/homemade+tablecloth+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I cut it into two 120" pieces, then cut two 12" strips from one of them. Here is a closer view of the fabric. I picked it up from Joann's, when they moved locations. I think I paid about $2/yard.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMVmgk0n3RrZ_lEHEhsvC9CUkj4NyUfiJw1NlW-IvRFUYubhj08lPJlhQrTN6E6jSTfg8GFBJD1Xv3OUgN2EX_Qft7um92rOfwg3TatCQMDV4qgda49jyQ6Tc3VpSKj2wMyGWnz9-O61uZ/s1600/homemade+tablecloth+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMVmgk0n3RrZ_lEHEhsvC9CUkj4NyUfiJw1NlW-IvRFUYubhj08lPJlhQrTN6E6jSTfg8GFBJD1Xv3OUgN2EX_Qft7um92rOfwg3TatCQMDV4qgda49jyQ6Tc3VpSKj2wMyGWnz9-O61uZ/s320/homemade+tablecloth+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I stitched them together with French seams, then topstitched them to keep them flat/in place. I then hemmed it, and put it on the table. Just two seams, but, wow. It took 3 hours, from beginning to end.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I also made 4 more masks. These are reversible, with batik on both sides, instead of flannel. I hope that it will not tickle my nose the way the flannel does. I also hope they will be cooler.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We've finished the update of the bathroom lighting. I wanted a shelf on top, to display some of my shell collection. I am quite pleased with the results.<br />

Other than that? I am continuing to hand quilt 3 hours/day. IQA has extended the entry deadline for Houston until June 4. I doubt I will have finished my quilt by then, but who knows? I have plenty of time to try!<br />

Back in March, I pieced two tops for our Komforters for Kids guild project. KFK's purpose is to make and distribute quilts to children in distress. These are kept in the back of patrol cars, as well as given to CPS. Back in March, they put out a call for quilters to help make more quilts for distribution. The KFK committee helps by supplying us with "kits" made from of 6" fabric squares.</div>

When I let them know I'd finished two tops, I offered to quilt some for them as well. Within hours a bag appeared on my doorstep, with five quilts needing quilting. I finished quilting them last week.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGS93EazL9-oNcIK1BH3lnaW7CCkp1n-m4CVSY5vyvQhuANfaHuDybJ1RrENI1VECHv-6GMjk_3KQXk5a3DqZitPhJr2KnUJbaZRL4o9dCGDCIIIqyymYfzdZxQfzlyuOvI5mrVx8A0_Qq/s1600/KFK+-+finished+May+2+2020+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGS93EazL9-oNcIK1BH3lnaW7CCkp1n-m4CVSY5vyvQhuANfaHuDybJ1RrENI1VECHv-6GMjk_3KQXk5a3DqZitPhJr2KnUJbaZRL4o9dCGDCIIIqyymYfzdZxQfzlyuOvI5mrVx8A0_Qq/s320/KFK+-+finished+May+2+2020+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This week, I bound them, by machine, something I've never done before. But back to the quilting. Some of the quilts were in need of something to make them more special. This was one of them. I quilted the fruits of the Spirit into the solid-colored squares. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control. I thought they would be a good reminder for anyone interacting with a child wrapped with this quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This little flannel quilt just called for "woof!" quilted in the empty squares.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here is the cute fabric I chose to bind this tropical quilt. I love the result. As you can see, by the time I hit the 5th quilt, the binding was looking pretty good. I now feel confident with this new skill, at least enough to not worry about binding any more KFKs. Easy peasy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Other than this, I've been spending an average of 3 hours/day hand quilting. My latest project is moving right along, and I am excited to see the textures created, bringing it to life. I don't know how long it will take, but I am not going to hurry. This is a quilt that deserves all the time in the world. What better time to have it in front of me as my primary quilt project, right?<br />
<br />
In other good news, there are rumors that some of the restrictions might be relaxing in California. Wouldn't that be wonderful?!! I still will likely keep a reduced activity list, because I'm a bit wary. They say asthmatics are compromised. I don't know. So far, I am thankful to have stayed healthy and avoided the virus. I hope and trust that the rest of you can say the same.<br />
<br />

I haven't finished binding the quilts, but the binding is cut and waiting for me. I'm binding by machine, not by hand, so it's a lot faster.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgekGbatYsvEaUNI68zLFhvyr9t1Q2zRLKGj7h7yiFXgfesUtNzlSZ_HMN1oLfkG0fCNlVEt0R1VYDsl3Qz6Jxp36pEhvn1vmicoQp3RVbIufFeOjrL46Upfkc88H1Q7-9g65_4BOuoX-gW/s1600/more+masks.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgekGbatYsvEaUNI68zLFhvyr9t1Q2zRLKGj7h7yiFXgfesUtNzlSZ_HMN1oLfkG0fCNlVEt0R1VYDsl3Qz6Jxp36pEhvn1vmicoQp3RVbIufFeOjrL46Upfkc88H1Q7-9g65_4BOuoX-gW/s320/more+masks.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The past two days have included some mask making, I've 11 more to add to my total.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7C5ZnfU4Gf8PmkXdw7ENMpGm3e9iq-vVCswhGQhGl8CzyCkxVM6GjXe-KzZtfDyDES6jwQKr3bWJ4BpQvr6zNg1O0gpkKQff41o4mchJ4IfEHm9gHRXFJ_QwvEHXWaXkW-3D1Skdl1-p-/s1600/May+Day+masks.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7C5ZnfU4Gf8PmkXdw7ENMpGm3e9iq-vVCswhGQhGl8CzyCkxVM6GjXe-KzZtfDyDES6jwQKr3bWJ4BpQvr6zNg1O0gpkKQff41o4mchJ4IfEHm9gHRXFJ_QwvEHXWaXkW-3D1Skdl1-p-/s320/May+Day+masks.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
These are all lined with flannel. The next batch will be made from two batiks. I'm hoping they will be cooler in the warmer weather we've been experiencing. The flannel tickles my nose and overheats me, so I'm ready to try something new.<br />
<br />
Speaking of trying something new, there is a video out there somewhere, which shows how to use a seam ripper to create the pleats. This is SO much easier than trying to iron them in place before stitching. Just be sure to use a large seam ripper. I first used a small one, and the resulting pleat was barely there.<br />
<br />
My biggest news is that I've begun quilting the quilt I started in a David Taylor class back in 2014. I finished the top last year, but I've been putting off the quilting, worried that I wasn't warmed up. Well, after finishing that long-time UFO, my hand quilting is as warm as it's ever going to be. I've been at it for three days, and so far? So good!! I am loving the project, but I am limiting myself to 3 hours of quilting a day. After that? My hands begin cramping and the stitches start to suffer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRSb9GanXN14Ucim4e8On_da7p2tsrSbbrZ6Ku6GCHWu0K1wZNa9O1u2oUukMq33H7EUlhG0DryKRFHxX0owK7ysIw0MCCczgxiDc0vDt3_txF7MU7wsS3-_xCrgY5HSgBmXwO6msE-Q9J/s320/Quilting+-+Day+3+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yesterday, I was bummed to find out that the Spring Quiltfest in Greenville, SC has been cancelled. They must have decided yesterday, because on Monday, they reiterated that they were still taking entries. I asked for a refund, rather than keep the quilts entered in a show scheduled for 2021. That's just too far in the future for that kind of commitment.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you are having quilt show withdrawals the way I am having quilt show withdrawals, I recommend you look up Quilt Fever. It's a 16 minute documentary about Paducah. I have to admit that it shouldn't have been a tearjerker, but midway through? I found my eyes leaking as I contemplated the overwhelming loss to the quilt community that the inability to gather together like this has been. I've been trying to push off reality, in denial, saying, "Surely we will be able to get together again soon!" Now? I'm not so sure. One day at a time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I have finished one of those forever UFOs!! You know? The ones that you still really like, but they sit at the bottom of the priority ToDo List. High school grad quilts take precedence. College grad quilts take precedence. Wedding quilts and baby quilts? Take precedence. With all that precedent taking, some quilts just sift to the bottom and sit there, waiting patiently to be noticed.<br />
<br />
Well, what better motivation than a Stay at Home order to get some forward progress on one of those I-love-you-but-every-other-quilt-is-more-important projects? I set a goal to finish this quilt before the end of April. Ta da!! It is finished!!<br />

You are looking at the quilt on the bed. The binding is navy blue, I've set it on top of another quilt. There is no white border. The color in the picture above is closer to accurate. The design in the picture below is more evident.<br />

This quilt is FULL of memories!! I was piecing it when I worked in the dining room, with my sewing machine on the dining room table and a flannel sheet taped to the wall. I was piecing it when we had two cats who are since long gone, who liked nothing better than to maraud through my sewing space and destroy whatever they could find. A favorite midnight treat was to shake all the block pieces from the flannel wall. If you look closely, the piecing of this quilt is pretty intricate. Actually, the piecing is easy. It's the color/fabric placement that was a bear. And now it's done, and it is all hand quilted. hip hip hooray!! hip hip hooray! hip hip hooray!!!<br />
<br />
I worked so diligently on that quilt this week, I didn't make time for much else. I made one little birthday card, for my mother-in-law. It reminds me of Tahiti.<br />

Back in December, I talked with a contractor about updating our 80's lighting in the bathrooms. He finally got us on his list this week, and the first stage of improvements has been installed. Gone are the cracked plastic/fluorescent light fixtures and in their place are LED's, set in oak. The second stage will involve adding a shelf above the light box, and up-lighting. I plan to display shells there, when all is said and done.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_8qJZMsWFcUofEDdeortpgTm-q0pDPBU9EzmBMJhW2q74gmGBrTdBzo771bL17Lu1Tp_Dy3l7lxwimeoiJEbZw76Se6KQhNsOd2bKyMkQh1hJghtUBnnJEjhOcfFtyD1-5zZB7B8fXaGk/s1600/New+Lighting+-+hall+bath.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_8qJZMsWFcUofEDdeortpgTm-q0pDPBU9EzmBMJhW2q74gmGBrTdBzo771bL17Lu1Tp_Dy3l7lxwimeoiJEbZw76Se6KQhNsOd2bKyMkQh1hJghtUBnnJEjhOcfFtyD1-5zZB7B8fXaGk/s320/New+Lighting+-+hall+bath.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
So, while others are chaffing at the bit, wondering what to do next, I am very pleased with this week's progress.<br />
<br />
I even have my next hand quilting project all set and ready for quilting. My plan was to begin by 3pm this afternoon. Unfortunately, at 1pm, I sliced open my finger on a can of tuna. groan. No stitches necessary, and I had a tetanus shot within the year. All I have to do is wait for it to heal a bit because the next hand quilting project? Cannot be christened with a bloody finger. That much is certain.<br />
<br />
The other quilt-related thing that I did this week was to enter two quilts in the Mancuso South Carolina show. I'm anxious to see if they are cleared to hold it. South Carolina is one of the states easing restrictions, if our news in CA is accurate. I hope and pray that all goes well with them and that they pave the way for the rest of us to regain our freedom of movement.<br />
<br />
April has been a long month. I do hope that May holds only 31 days.<br />
<br />
Happy Quilting!!!Suzanne Kistlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00397419255208702184noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692860300429729674.post-20924016648925388952020-04-18T09:23:00.001-07:002020-04-18T09:23:38.567-07:00Some Saturday in April<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCL8nEdvMPuUbki12tNOvl8JdpcIjuo8CWAS1TXED_rjj5-tgQSBt0rLjneZiafFcdAWDY-R3sEPwWQltQL5MB5JQu4dxKsufwutIXh-23IIjXekDa8AHwH1mxgR_1uDNwDfK8WCXOhKR8/s1600/IMG_3940.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCL8nEdvMPuUbki12tNOvl8JdpcIjuo8CWAS1TXED_rjj5-tgQSBt0rLjneZiafFcdAWDY-R3sEPwWQltQL5MB5JQu4dxKsufwutIXh-23IIjXekDa8AHwH1mxgR_1uDNwDfK8WCXOhKR8/s320/IMG_3940.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
I'll begin with a pic taken in my front yard. It is iris season. Despite the rain, the snails, and the mildew in the roses, the beauty out there grounds me. On sunny days, I'm out there pulling a few weeds, tossing snails into the street, and grooming dead leaves from the plants. I find it very therapeutic, and a nice complement to being inside, bent over my various quilting projects.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today is a rainy day, so quilting, it is.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This past week, I had a bit of an epiphany. Though I have literally dozens of UFOs waiting patiently for attention, I don't have the creative juices needed to give them the attention needed to move them forward. Instead, I find that I need something repetitive and fairly mindless, to keep me occupied. I've got so many unspoken thoughts flying through my brain, apparently there is no space for blatant creativity.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Instead, I have reverted to traditional piecework. When I say "reverted," that might give negative connotations, which is the last thing on my mind. I LOVE traditional patchwork! But I don't usually have the time or the patience to create a quilt one block at a time, repeating the same pattern(s) over and over again. And yet? Like a jigsaw puzzle, this is the kind of activity I find that I am craving. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When 2020 rolled around, had you told me I would be indulging in scrap patchwork, I would have laughed at you. "I don't have time for that!" And yet? Now? I have PLENTY of time for that. I mean, what else is there to do? I could clean house, but, really? Is that the BEST use of my time? If we are all potentially 14 days away from the ICU, would I rather be found with a cleaner house? or a finished project? Apparently the answer is another finished project...or a new UFO. hahahaha!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This past week, as I flipped through various UFO's, I remembered my box of binding trims. Each time I make binding, I trim the triangles, stack them up, and toss them in this shoe bin. It is to the point where the lid barely fits. I decided that it was again time to start making them into half-square triangles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJhyXzD8tH78sLZ1xQiOqVUgNLBS8fiMLlNG28fNIWN1fGTpByBSQF-n5jsyqCqxxvsJuifZJrQCmeDdDMzuqLOyHWJ3Jjz2TpzlhmClek6Q_KntBSz6OFgGKG1xQUOz4K-_QABbzfaSOR/s1600/scrap+triangle+bin.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJhyXzD8tH78sLZ1xQiOqVUgNLBS8fiMLlNG28fNIWN1fGTpByBSQF-n5jsyqCqxxvsJuifZJrQCmeDdDMzuqLOyHWJ3Jjz2TpzlhmClek6Q_KntBSz6OFgGKG1xQUOz4K-_QABbzfaSOR/s320/scrap+triangle+bin.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
At this point, I usually piece them into 8 pointed stars, but this time? I wanted to do something different. Some of the half-square triangles yield 2.5" pieces, some only 2" pieces. That just means that instead of one project, I guess I'm doing two? Just keep sewing, and decide later!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL4yLzjZgF3ppluNz2TaRvq_6uo3IMyycdwEuzugL-etCCd17HbfV1B-7GsRvTXxg5WXiaQ4BR3Z4Ai1DHWNMqFzfhS810vSeBJXWIPQ_Valg9gkdRl9MQ_jDr_FL3CtwBXX0LCK5hXsev/s1600/making+bias+squares.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL4yLzjZgF3ppluNz2TaRvq_6uo3IMyycdwEuzugL-etCCd17HbfV1B-7GsRvTXxg5WXiaQ4BR3Z4Ai1DHWNMqFzfhS810vSeBJXWIPQ_Valg9gkdRl9MQ_jDr_FL3CtwBXX0LCK5hXsev/s320/making+bias+squares.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Last year, or was it the year before? A friend asked me to dissect a quilt and find the quilt block it was comprised of. Turns out it was a Delectable Mountains block. I've had that pattern on my design wall since that time, wanting to make the block for myself. oooh! I like it!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcXqQcJMhXeDNiHu4OggFV4vzP7wQYMKW6d-CoMz4E28IuKrr2wlUtYBjqgAZ_JWeLXAv5UFY5Mzl-Zb8lnS_yzWtzj338mbtgSr06iAuWQCBTWMOUivSLxqMlHkix7-ZlUeauP2igoanr/s1600/Delectable+Mountains.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcXqQcJMhXeDNiHu4OggFV4vzP7wQYMKW6d-CoMz4E28IuKrr2wlUtYBjqgAZ_JWeLXAv5UFY5Mzl-Zb8lnS_yzWtzj338mbtgSr06iAuWQCBTWMOUivSLxqMlHkix7-ZlUeauP2igoanr/s320/Delectable+Mountains.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Look at that! Four blocks are even better than one!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAz6Mbuzz9vLlUuNtgzY7A55-axgbL37hi5XVPQmacLYAWrrDN9DLKbaJDSRGdtbkKQ9fanSLepMLmWs6T5MZK7J3p0wRxIJfw90ny-mz0EyNZZkQfWfZDlSDXqP7sEj_1ATMCkDYbVi7S/s1600/Delectable+Mountains+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAz6Mbuzz9vLlUuNtgzY7A55-axgbL37hi5XVPQmacLYAWrrDN9DLKbaJDSRGdtbkKQ9fanSLepMLmWs6T5MZK7J3p0wRxIJfw90ny-mz0EyNZZkQfWfZDlSDXqP7sEj_1ATMCkDYbVi7S/s320/Delectable+Mountains+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
So, that's what I've been doing this week. Relatively mindless piecing, repetition, working with a calming palette with a few splashes of color here and there.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And while I'm doing this? Well, let's just say that the house is not cleaning itself. Witness my sewing space, where I use the word "space" quite liberally.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimueqy65APpNL30fWhXsQlwew6IhdwKegKRdHA6BQJ7gAP7KHlADhIB5oRBvPyETHERDrpN7k7DUMYTMmenH1Q81JoeTWY0vR_WWhuM95iCxEEuWF82PyPYzqO9wDJkAHFx9TWAJvq2Kb3/s1600/sewing+surface.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimueqy65APpNL30fWhXsQlwew6IhdwKegKRdHA6BQJ7gAP7KHlADhIB5oRBvPyETHERDrpN7k7DUMYTMmenH1Q81JoeTWY0vR_WWhuM95iCxEEuWF82PyPYzqO9wDJkAHFx9TWAJvq2Kb3/s320/sewing+surface.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
And on that note, I hope that you are staying safe and staying healthy, and using your time to ground yourself, doing whatever it is that brings you peace and joy. Take care!!!</div>
