I will conquer this. I will. I will. I think I can, I think I can.
This was the second guest bedroom, where my granddaughter stays when she comes to visit. I'd been dumping things in there, as I've cleaned the other rooms. In reality, this was not as bad as it looks.
This is the after. I need to decide what quilts to put on the wall.
I also worked on part of the closet. That is a job for another day. What does one do with 100's of VHS movies? I've yet to decide.
I did not finish my BOTV desk. I took a picture, but I'm not sure what I did with it. The good news is that the rooms were clean enough to welcome my daughter and granddaughter for a quick visit.
She was happy to find both the Barbies and the pool in working condition. :)
The reason she was here was to go to a baby shower for her cousin-to-be. I don't think I've ever been to a shower when the baby received more than one quilt. This baby received THREE!!
I believe the first quilt was made by my daughter-in-law's great aunts. The first child from each generation receives a quilt with this pattern. This is the fourth generation. Most have had pink sashing...and been given to boys. Maybe that's why they went with purple. Just in case the ultrasound is wrong.
This quilt was made by our DIL's mother's mother. (That is her mother in the picture, with her.) Cute quilt. I did not realize that she came from a family of quilters!
This Grandmother's Fan is the quilt I gave her. No, I haven't had time to quilt lately. But back in the late 90's, when I did have time, I listened to my quiltie friends who advised me, "Make quilts for your grandbabies when you have time. When they get here? You'll be too busy to be able to get one done in time." Excellent advice, which I am oh, so glad I heeded!
And, other than that? It's back to trying to regain lost ground in the room I loosely refer to as The Studio. Goals have been pushed back yet again, but they still exist. Which is a good thing. A very good thing.
Happy Quilting!

Cleaning House
So, back in June...WAY back in June...I tried clearing out the Studio, so that I could "get organized." What happened was that the bulk of the contents were moved into the guest room, which I renamed "The Annex."
For the past two months, I have been trying to sort/slog through the mess in The Annex, find a place for everything, and put everything in its place. To refresh your memory, it looked like this:
Look carefully. If you don't, you're liable to miss all kinds of things, like the stacks of bins in front of the window seat, etc., etc. And this is just 3/4 of the room. You cannot see the things in front of the closet, or in the closet.
Fast forward to this past week. My youngest son is talking of having a yard sale in September. This used to be his room, when he lived here. The closet was still full of his belongings. I cleared the room enough to reach the closet. The piles that were once in this room are now different piles in the living room (for the yard sale). The Annex has reverted to The Guest Room.
The bed is cleared off, and accessible. Nothing is blocking the bookshelves, the bottom of which are filled with children's books.
Even the closet is clean, though it may be filled with quilting paraphernalia.
And, just so you know I'm not joking, here is the other side of the closet. See? Amazing!!
Okay, so maybe I did not show you that I have two tables stashed behind that design wall, and I did leave the Tiara right there, front and center.
And maybe I took the last few (several) piles back to The Studio. It was going to end up in there anyway. Here's how it looks today:
I guess the good news is that it is once again a working Studio. I was in there, working, all of yesterday afternoon.
As of now, I have no work to show you, but I've been setting goals, and might actually meet one this year. Goals are good!
