So. The last car pulling out of the driveway ends it. The holidays are officially over.
First, we had the joy of seeing daughter Allison, for our brief trip to Tenaya Lodge. (I caught her mid-goodbye...)
Baby brother tried to keep her from leaving - notice his feet as he holds the car in one place. He had to let go, because he didn't want to remove the hood without her permission...
As she drove away, one brother sang a ballad, the other remembered that Christmas was that much closer...
Christmas came and went, and with it came the older brother. He came and went as well...
Again our numbers were dwindling.
Number 3 left on New Year's Eve...
And number 4 left yesterday. (Does he look ready for the new quarter to begin?)
This is what our house looks like today...it's as barren as the Rose of Sharon in the foreground...
Even putting my own car on the street does nothing to dispel the sense of empty nest.
It's just that it's so EMPTY.
Good thing I've got Edgar (and Malcolm, and Charlie) to keep me company. What a pal, what a pal...
And yep, that's what we've been doing around here, practicing saying "Auf Wiedersehen," again and again and again...

I know that feeling of no kids. When everybody came (inlaws and all)Christmas there were over twenty with 7 rugrats. Christine helped Mel fix breakfast for everyone. Our house when we finally made it home was so empty so quiet so boring. Poor Mel no body to to argue with or rough house with.
