Oh, WOW!!!

I cannot believe how WONDERFUL these SAQA quilts are! I knew "Red Coleus" would be something special - it was chosen for much of the advertising, both in magazines and postcards. When it arrived last week, it had me doing a happy dance.

But "Sequoia mini?" I wasn't so sure. The colors online were not colors I feel comfortable with, but living near the Sequoias, I kept thinking that I should get it. When I checked Teri's website, her work was familiar to me, and I don't remember it as being blah in person. The quilt arrived today.

ohmygosh!!! The colors were WRONG. Rather than being washed out, they are quite vivid.

The quilt has all kinds of wonderful stitching details, that my camera just won't pick up. I tried to get a close-up of the impressionistic "leaves," but the focus wouldn't quite kick in.

Anyway, I just want you to know that I am LOVING my quilts, and am trying to figure out just where to display them.

I also have to say "whew!" because a couple of the quilts in the third session of the auction have already sold. That means I will NOT be tempted to whip out my my magic plastic card in the next day or two...I can wait until the prices drop a bit. Hopefully the rest of the ones I have my eye on will sell and I can put my card away until next September. ;)

In the meantime, I am working on a quilt-for-hire, and a challenge for our local guild. It's not what I had planned all year, but since it's due in 10 days, I've switched gears. I'll show it to you, a week from Thursday. Hopefully I'll finish it tonight. Goals are good.
